Dr Song 50% Lactic Acid Gel Peel Review

Last night I did my first Dr. Song Lactic Acid Peel. Each bottle contains approx. 15-20 full facial peels (30ml/1oz) and is made with pharmaceutical grade lactic acid. Dr. Song's lactic acid is made in USA, manufactured in an FDA compliant cosmetic laboratory. The bottle is professional looking, which i like.

So what is a lactic acid skin peel? Here is some information I found online. Lactic acid peels are alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). Derived from milk, they are very mild chemicals with little to no downtime. Because lactic acid is a natural human metabolite, there is less chance of an allergic reaction with this type of peel. Therefore, they are a good choice for first-time peel users or for those with sensitive skin. However, dry or oily skin types can also use this peel and get good results. Lactic acid is especially good for to use for mature skin.

So what do Lactic Acid Peels Do? They exfoliate the surface of your skin, deep clean your pores, fade dark spots, improve hyperpigmentation, even out skin tone, brighten and lighten skin, improve the appearance of light wrinkles and stimulate collagen production. Lactic acid peels are a great way to treat common skin concerns. How great a lactic acid peel will be at fixing a skin problem will depend on a number of factors though. These include how your skin reacts, the strength of the peel (lactic acid peels usually range from 40-70%), the number of peels you get (you will usually need more than one to get your desired skin results), and how well you take care of your skin post-peel.

So when will you see results? Like with all chemical peels, lactic acid peels take time to work. People tend to expect their skin to show drastic improvements right after they get a peel done, but these improvements don't happen the next day. And just because your skin doesn't look any different immediately after you get a peel, it doesn't mean the peel didn't work. Your skin continues to get better in the days following the peel. For certain skin issues, like fading dark marks and erasing fine lines, it will take multiple chemical peel treatments to see results. 1-2 treatments for 6-8 weeks will usually give you optimal results. Again, these results will depend on your skin, the strength of the peel, the frequency of the peel, and how well you take care of your skin post-peel. Because lactic acid peels are mild, they can be safely used 1-2 times per week. However, it depends on your skin, the strength of the lactic acid peel, and what other products you are using.

Doing the peel the first time I made sure to follow the directions exactly. With your face you don't want to take risks. The lactic acid is clear, and a bit thick. It has a slight smell that is strange, but not unpleasant. It tingled and burned a bit, but that is to be expected. This morning I notice a little peeling around the nose, but nothing major. They advise you to avoid the sun for 24 hours after using the lactic acid, I could not wait so I made sure to moisturize and use a SPF 30 before I went out. I love that this easy to use product is doing so much good for my skin. I have some acne scars that I can't wait to see fade away. I recommend you check out the company and the product on their website and you can order on amazon, and please make sure you follow the directions!!! The best part about Dr. Song's lactic acid is it comes with a 365 Day 100% No Hassle Money Back Guarantee!!! You can return the item even if its empty!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com in exchange for my honest review. I never recommend products i don't like or use personally.
